MARKETPLACE AT THE ROOTS
RETURNS SEPTEMBER 23rd, 2017!
The Spring/Summer launch of this neighborhood’s very first traditional farmers market couldn’t have been better! Our community-focused urban farm festival has been successful thanks to the hard work and energies of our amazing vendors, volunteers, and visitors. Due to the scorching heat of summer, Marketplace at the Roots is going on hiatus and will return on September 23rd, 2017. Stay tuned for updates by signing up for our email list or following along on Instagram or Facebook.
See event details below!
Market highlights: Each week will be different! You can expect live music from local musicians; youth cultural performers; outdoor yoga; fresh fruits and veggies to pick; feeding the chickens; paint and smoothie sip classes; fresh smoothies to buy; children’s gardening club; food trucks; local vendors of all kinds; and the most popular area of the market is sure to be a first of its kind – YouthPreneur Zone which will be an area of all youth entrepreneurs (ages 8-16) selling their wares.
This is a FREE community event!! There is plenty of free parking available, but please carpool if you can.
WHY SHOP THE MARKET
Local support: Your dollar goes further at the market, because you are supporting the growth of small businesses, strengthening our local economy, and are able to find high quality, unique goods that simply don’t exist at the corner store!
Engage with the community: Meet new friends, network with local vendors, and experience a sense of community in an otherwise disjointed neighborhood
Family-friendly: Get the whole family out of the house for the day! Come shop, play with the chickens, get the kids on our playground, and enjoy the market as a family.
YouthPreneur Zone: This year’s market features a SUPER special YouthPreneurs Zone. Organized by BDEP, the Zone is an area of the market especially geared towards young entrepreneurs! For a nominal $5/market booth rent, youth ages 8-16 can have their own spaces to sell their products and practice their business skills! There will also be a monthly Business 101 class that the youth must attend that will teach money management, bookkeeping, how to fill out a business application and more. Bahama Breeze, an awesome community partner, is providing funding to provide some of the supplies needed for our new up and coming young business owners. We plan to partner with a neighboring Bank to assist with the classes.
